In the Spring of 2010 my older brother Dan Diggin was preparing for his senior lacrosse season at Rustin High School.  He worked his way up through the ranks in West Chester Youth Lacrosse from clinics in 2nd grade to a league championship on the U-15A team in 2006.  At Rustin Dan was a starting D-pole from his Freshman year, earning All League recognition as both a sophomore and junior.  One afternoon at the start of his senior season Dan mentioned to the Rustin trainer that he had a tingling feeling from his chest to his toes on the right side of his body.  Dan went to see a neurologist and within 2 days was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.  My family did not really know what that meant, but over the past three years we have certainly been educated.

Dan was able to complete his senior year of lax and again earned all Ches-Mont honors.  He went on to play one year at a D-3 college before transferring back to West Chester University. Danny’s diagnosis has been a life changing experience for all of us.  Thankfully a pharmaceutical company developed an oral medication that he takes everyday – he really had trouble injecting himself with needles.  I am really proud of Dan’s lax accomplishments and try to follow in his footsteps.  But I am even prouder of how he deals with his M.S. and the way he works through its daily challenges such as fatigue, vision issues, difficulty sleeping and muscle pain.

With the support of friends and family Dan is moving forward, staying positive and remaining hopeful!  A big part of his support comes from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

You can make a check payable to the National MS Society and mail it back to me at 217 Swinburne Road, West Chester, PA 19382 or you can donate to my fundraising campaign at the link noted below.

Thanks so much for your generosity and please consider joining our team!
